Understanding and managing climate risks in your business.
Climate change is increasingly affecting the conditions under which companies operate. Physical risks such as flooding, heat stress and supply chain disruptions are becoming more frequent, while transition risks in the form of shifting regulations, market expectations and technologies are reshaping the business landscape. Being prepared is a matter of resilience and competitiveness.
In this webinar, SKF will share how the company is translating climate ambition into practical business action. Alongside its science-based commitment to decarbonize operations by 2030 and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050, SKF is taking a proactive approach to addressing the physical impacts of climate change.
Recognizing that some climate risks are already unavoidable, SKF has established a comprehensive climate adaptation program aimed at strengthening the resilience of its people, operations, supply chain, and critical assets. With an ongoing embedment of climate risk assessments into strategic planning, investment processes, and operational decision-making, SKF is continuously enhancing its ability to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to emerging climate challenges.
In this webinar you will also get an introduction to PULSE, PwC’s tool for assessing physical climate risks. PULSE analyses how extreme weather and a changing climate may affect a company’s sites and operations, under different climate scenarios and time horizons. The tool can also put a financial value on these risks, showing what they could cost the business, which makes it easier to prioritise measures and make well-founded decisions. In addition, the analysis supports reporting requirements under ESRS/CSRD and the EU Taxonomy.
Programme
1. Climate risks in brief: an overview of physical and transition risks, and why they matter for your company (PwC)
A clear picture of physical and transition climate risks, how the two interact, and why regulations like CSRD and the EU Taxonomy now demand quantified, not just qualitative, risk assessments.
2. Building climate resilience at SKF: from risk assessment to strategic action (SKF)
An inside look at how SKF has built a climate adaptation program to strengthen the resilience of its people, operations, supply chain, and critical assets, and how climate risk assessments are being embedded into strategic planning, investment decisions, and day-to-day operations.
3. Introducing the PULSE tool: a practical approach to assessing physical climate risks (PwC)
A hands-on introduction to PULSE, a tool for quantifying physical climate risks at the asset level, with examples of how it has helped companies across sectors identify risk hotspots and prioritize climate adaptation investments.
